SONDER CARE GROUP
Disability Support services
"Sonder" Definition
"The profound feeling of realising that everyone, including strangers passed in the street, has a life as complex as one's own.”
SOCIAL. ADVENTURE. FUN
When Sebastian Bill, founder and director of Sonder Care Group, was in university studying an engineering degree, he was also working as a support worker, facilitating and assisting people with disabilities undertake their social activities.
He found the experience to be so meaningful and rewarding that he decided to strike out on his own and make this his full-time calling. Hence, Sonder Care Group was born.
Based in the Mornington Peninsula region of Victoria, Sonder Care Group is a disability support service specialising in getting people that need assistance get active and ‘out and about’, especially in the great outdoors.
“At Sonder Care, we are a group of vibrant and energetic disability support workers”, Sebastian says. Whether it be bush hiking, fishing, snorkelling, four-wheel driving, learning to play tennis, rock-climbing or whatever our client’s goals may be, we link them up with a unique support worker with similar skills and interests”.
“Our motto is ‘SOCIAL. ADVENTURE. FUN.’ We’re really all about putting the power in the hands of people with a disability. We want to provide them with an opportunity to reach their goals, and want to do it in a social, adventurous and fun way!”
In recent years, the advent of NDIS has called for an increase in demand in disability support services, with Sonder Care growing from a sole operator to a team of 40+ support workers and increasing their reach to other regions in Victoria with plans to go beyond.
With a thriving business that includes long-term clients and popular camp programs, Sonder Care Group now faces the challenge of all founders: running their core offering while scaling for growth. Sebastian sees Ces and the Binghay & Co team as part of the solution. Ces helps them hone what they are already good at and offers support to grow to the levels planned for with a constant eye on cash flow, quarterly results reviews and year-round tax planning. Having initially started out doing their own accounting, Sebastian brought in the Binghay & Co team to take care of the back end. This freed him up to focus on high value work.
